Business and Law 3+3 Program

Achieve your Business Administration/Juris Doctor degrees faster with the Business and Law 3+3 program. The 3+3 Program allows exceptional students to complete their undergraduate studies in three years and begin the Thomas R. Kline School of Law in their fourth year. Business students will graduate with a BSBA upon completing their first year of law school.

Students in the 3+3 program select one of several business major options and are prepared for successful careers in in law, government, corporate business, and other fields. The curriculum engages students in experiences that will develop their research, analytical, and advocacy skills. 

Faculty will introduce you to best practices for leadership, business-government relations, critical decision-making, negotiation, and organizational behavior. You will be encouraged to join law and government organizations like the Pre-Law Society and take advantage of internship opportunities. 

Business Administration Requirements

  • Complete 97 credits of Bridges, Business Core, Major and Elective courses by the end of year three of the program 

  • We recommend that students take the LSAT or GRE exam during their second year

Law School Admission Criteria*

To continue into the School of Law for year four of the program, you must:

  • Apply and be accepted to the Thomas R. Kline School of Law during year three
  • Finish your three years in the School of Business with a cumulative 3.5+ GPA
  • Score in required percentile on LSAT or the equivalent on the GRE as set by the School of Law
  • Complete an admissions interview

The 3+3 Law Program is not available to transfer students. Once a student matriculates, all coursework must be completed at 51°µÍø. 

* Acceptance to the Business and Law 3+3 program does not a guarantee acceptance into the Thomas R. Kline School of Law.

Legal Studies Minor 

The School of Business offers a Legal Studies Minor that complements the 3+3 Law Program and Duquesne's Pre-Law Certificate. Most students who complete the Legal Studies Minor only have to take one extra class to receive the Pre-Law Certificate.

Pre-Law Certificate 

If you are considering a law degree, Duquesne’s Pre-Law Certificate may be right for you. The fifteen-credit pre-law program gives students access to over 50 courses from multiple disciplines across the University—including Business! The certificate is an excellent addition to add to any 3+3 student resume.

Scholarship

Duquesne undergraduates who successfully complete the requirements of the Pre-Law Certificate with a 3.0 GPA or higher are eligible to receive a $5,000 scholarship for their first year at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of 51°µÍø.
